Tyler replaced Rick Corker, who had been poached to lead Nokia-Siemens' North America operations.

Tyler had until this point been the head of sales for the vendor's Network Systems division, a Singapore-based role he had held for almost 18 months.

He had a long history working for Nokia and its businesses, being the former head of Nokia-Siemens in A/NZ and Nokia Australia's country director, which he took up in 2004.

Tyler was also well known for his boardroom roles for Australian companies and industry associations.

He remained a non-executive chairman for fixed wireless operator BigAir, according to his LinkedIn profile, and had previously been an Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association board member.

"Paul brings a deep knowledge of the Asia Pacific market and its customers and has played an instrumental role in the strong performance in Asia Pacific during 2010," Nokia-Siemens Networks executive board member Ashish Chowdhary said in a statement.
