The Department of Defence will upgrade a 20-plus year old NEC PABX at its Russell offices in Canberra, covering about 5000 extensions.
The department said it run a hybrid TDM/IP environment on two NEC SV8500 communications servers, which would replace a 2400 UMG telephony system.
The installation was due to be completed this month.
The department also deployed a "full VoIP" system at its newly refurbished Anzac Park West site. It had 950 extensions and went live in October.
