City of Melbourne to develop IT strategy

The City of Melbourne has advertised for a Chief Information Officer to develop and deliver a comprehensive long-term IT strategy for the council.

Replacing acting CIO Colin Fairweather, the successful candidate will lead 100 staff in the city's Business Information Services Branch.

A three-year contract valued at $216,300 per year was on offer to a "team-focused and motivating leader" with tertiary qualifications and high-level managerial experience.

The CIO would report to recently appointed Director of Corporate Business Mark Stoermer and take charge of $15.5 million in operating expenditure and $10 million in capital expenditure per year.

A spokesman for the City of Melbourne said its Business Information Services branch was "entering an exciting phase".

"The CIO will be instrumental in the development of a comprehensive long-term IT strategy that will improve the way the City of Melbourne works, both internally and with its external stakeholders," she said.

"The CIO will oversee a number of innovative City of Melbourne projects currently underway. Details of these projects will be made available as they near their completion."
