Email security provider MessageLabs has teamed up with system integrator Dimension Data to sell managed security services to Australia-based businesses.
In the deal, DiData gets access to MessageLabs' entire portfolio of managed email security services, including software for blocking viruses, spam and pornography.
Neil Campbell, national security practice manager for DiData Australia, said in a statement that the partnership would expand options for customers.
Email security would become a more contested space as government and industry regulations enforced tighter control of information and communications, he said.
“Email is a focal point for the delivery of malicious code, such as viruses, worms and trojans, the commission of widespread fraud, including phishing and confidence scams as well as spam, which at best is a time-wasting distraction," Campbell said.
Keeping up with email threats and the latest compliance requirements was a "huge challenge" for organisations, demanding continuous investment in hardware, software and internal resources, Campbell claimed.
DiData was planning an event to promote the new partnership, he added.
Andy Lake, partner director at MessageLabs Asia Pacific, said managed services could free up in-house resources.
“Enterprises are under an unprecedented amount of pressure to secure their data,” Lake said. "A managed service can raise network utilisation levels through reduced email volumes and less demand on internet bandwidth."
