Melbourne manufacturer BlueScope Steel has reduced its hosting costs by entering into a new three-year, managed hosting services contract with Bulletproof Networks.

BlueScope Steel extends Bulletproof deal

The deal extended a nine-year relationship that evolved from a web hosting arrangement. Bulletproof now powers BlueScope's corporate, back-end logistics and marketing applications.

Bulletproof COO Lorenzo Modesto was unable to disclose the value of the deal, telling iTnews only that it was "significant".

The deal encompassed BlueScope's corporate and main product sites, as well as bluescopesteelconnect.com, which allowed customers to transact with the company online.

"We've seen a definite trend towards more and more mission critical enterprise applications being hosted on our Public and Private Managed Cloud infrastructure and BlueScope is no exception," Modesto said.

A spokesman for BlueScope said the agreement provided "significant cost efficiencies". He said the company also had several service providers, including web developer Daemon.

Bulletproof's Modesto said savings came from some service changes and volume pricing from the managed hosting provider's public and private 'Managed Cloud' offerings.
