EDS Australia has launched its first service stemming from its Agility Alliance with industry giants including Dell, Microsoft and Cisco.
EDS Workplace Services would aim to provide “comprehensive management of clients’ total desktop and mobile device environments” in a customised form, EDS said.
The service would target organisations with more than 500 seats.
Chris Mitchell, managing director at EDS Australia, said businesses had a shrinking budget for maintaining, securing and updating desktops and software.
“Companies need greater productivity, but the new applications and mobile devices intended to provide it often do not work well with existing infrastructure,” Mitchell said.
EDS Workplace Services would offer automation, remote management, security and mobility tools, using products and services from Microsoft, Dell, Fuji Xerox and support from Sun, Cisco and EMC.
The service supported desktops, laptops, PDAs, mobile phones, other mobile devices, distributed servers and printers, EDS said.
“Availability of messaging services and efficiency of procurement will be central,” EDS said.
EDS had been creating user-centric servicing models for specific communities such as engineers and call centres for some time. Current customers would initially be moved to the new service, EDS said.
