Fraudsters posing as bank officers have been trying to get people to reveal personal banking information, according to ACT Policing.
The scammers call people telling them they haven't made a credit card payment, according to a statement from ACT Policing.
"In a follow-up phone call the member of the community is told they are required to send proof that their credit card payment was made, their name, date of birth, account number and credit card details," it stated.
According to ACT Policing, so far the fraudster had requested bank details for Citbank. However, police have warned they could target other financial institutions.
ACT Policing Fraud Intelligence Detective Sergeant Fiona Sagripanti said that people who were targeted by the scam should log the time, date and other details of the call. She also suggested people attempt to obtain the caller's name and contact number. People should then contact Crime Stoppers, Sagripanti said.
