NT Education Dept buys 3Com kit

Three-year multi-million dollar deal.

The Northern Territory Department of Education and Training has announced plans to deploy 3Com kit in a multi-million dollar network upgrade to enable unified communications and multimedia learning.

The deal would span three years and covered -to-edge H3C switching and wireless infrastructure.

The department said it was part of an "ongoing initiative to create an infrastructure that delivers robust performance, efficiency and cost-savings for 187 schools across the territory."

"It will enhance communications through unified communications, multimedia learning and high-speed wireless access from anywhere on campus," 3Com said.

"Additionally, the project will include maintenance for each of the schools and training for staff at four key NT locations - Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Darwin."
