NEC to host Nivio Windows services

Polaris data centre adds Nivio.

Hosted desktop vendor Nivio has selected NEC to host its infrastructure for a newly launched hosted Windows service in Australia.

The Windows offering will be hosted within NEC racks at the $241 million Polaris Data Centre in Springfield in Queensland.

Nivio allows companies to rent Windows applications, such as Microsoft Office, plus share and store business applications on a monthly basis, using any internet enabled device.

John Costa, director of Nivio for Australia said the company's applications are dependant on availability and speed.

"When looking to expand operations into Australia, the level of support, value, failover capability and SLA was vital.

"NEC Australia has worked closely with us to tailor a package that met all the requirements of the Nivio business," said Costa.

Loren Wiener, product manager for data centres at NEC Australia said, the company was "very pleased to be the supplier of choice for Nivio, one the most innovative pioneering companies in the world."
