The Queensland Government has sent the outline of a new model for procuring IT contractors to agencies and the IT industry, according to the state’s ICT minister.Robert Schwarten said all contractor recruitment needs of agencies would now be centrally coordinated by the Government Chief Procurement Office. He believed the model would reduce the cost of engaging contractors and make it easier for them to engage with Government agencies."The new model will provide a more transparent engagement process including simpler, standardised processes and contracts as well as making government spending on ICT contractors more transparent,” Schwarten said.He said the Chief Procurement Office would be responsible for monitoring the success of the model. A joint government-advisory group was also tasked with providing ongoing feedback on the model. He said an overview of the model “had been distributed to agencies and the ICT industry to prepare for the upcoming changes.”
