At the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve, a glitch caused some Bank of Queensland computer systems to believe the year was 2016.
Since most debit and credit cards would have expired by 2016, affected machines refused to process the transactions.
Facebook has signed up McAfee as its security partner. Apart from helping teach Facebook members how to use the site safely, McAfee is also offering consumers a free six month subscription to its Internet Security Suite.
Michael Sentonas from McAfee told the Crunch he hoped all 350 million Facebook users would take up the offer.
McAfee will be offering its Internet Security Suite to users of both Windows and Apple Mac OS X. However, Linux and other operating system versions of the software are not included in the offer.
