The Federal Government is preparing a review of its Internet gateways in an effort to improve the efficiency, reliability and security of its online communications.
Industry representatives have been invited to attend a briefing, which will be held in Canberra on Friday to discuss the study and identify any requirements for a tender.
The briefing will be conducted by a representative of the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO).
It continues a series of industry consultations informing the development of the Whole-of-Government Data Centre Strategy.
According to AGIMO's Public Affairs Manager, Wayne Cooper, the study will identify the Internet gateway services and platforms required by Australian Government agencies, as well as the hardware and software in use currently.
The study is scheduled for completion in early 2010, with a view to implement any new technology from 2011.
