McCain campaign leaks crucial data

John McCain's team forgets to wipe hard drives.

The team behind John McCain's unsuccessful presidential campaign has been exposed as less than tech-savvy.

The team has been selling off devices used in the campaign, including laptops and mobile phones. However, they have been neglecting to wipe the devices before they are sold, leading to embarrassing leaks.

Two BlackBerrys sold to a Fox News reporter for $20 apiece turned out to contain contact details for lobbyists, campaign donors and key advisors. More than 50 phone numbers were found.

"They should have wiped that stuff out but, given the way the campaign was run, this is not a surprise," said one person affected.

The McCain team in a statement: "It was an unfortunate staff error and procedures are being put in place to ensure that all information is secure."
