Telstra adds first EDA to Next G range with MC75

Telstra has introduced the first Enterprise Digital Assistant (EDA) on the Next G network, the Motorola MC75.

Ross Fielding, Executive Director, Telstra Product Management, said that the addition of the MC75 to the Next G range would benefit mobile workers wherever they were.

“This EDA combines mobile computing, GPS navigation and 3G telephony in one rugged device that has built to meet the demands of day-to-day field use,” said Fielding.

“Now customers with remote or mobile workforces in industries like logistics, transport, services and retail can arm their people with a single mobile productivity tool.

“When powered by Telstra’s Next G network, the device lets users transact, send live work updates, make field sales, email, complete real-time orders, navigate to jobs and stay in touch in more places,” said Fielding.

The Motorola MC75 features a 624 MHz processor, Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0, GPS and high speed packet access (HSPA) 3G connectivity.

It has a 3.5 inch display with stylus operation. An onboard 2 megapixel camera features autofocus plus document- and signature-capture capabilities. Data can be transferred via Ethernet switch, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g standards) or Bluetooth. It also features a microSD slot for memory storage and transfer.

The MC75 has a harder exterior than most mobile devices, said Fielding, making it suitable for mobile workers.

“It’s powerful, ultra connectable and it is dust, drop, and water tolerant.

“The neat thing about this device is you have all the digital productivity tools in one portable unit that is tough enough to take with you into the field and usable enough to live with day to day.”
