Global Red scales campaigns on VMWare

Global Red will host customer loyalty programs for NRMA and Priceline on a VMWare-based platform via a three-year, $1 million deal with Macquarie Hosting.

Under the deal, Macquarie will host Global Red’s CRM, campaign management and analytical applications.

Macquarie will provide a VMWare ESX Server 3.5 managed hosting platform in an effort to scale its systems infrastructure to meet traffic peaks.

These peaks could be the result of an electronic mail-out of loyalty vouchers or monthly e-newsletters.

Campaigns are said to generate average customer traffic volumes 'in the millions per month', the companies said in a statement.

The NRMA ‘More4Members’ customer loyalty program currently has more than 2.2 million members, while Priceline is said to have a further two million members in its ClubCard program.

The Macquarie platform also includes dedicated firewalls and an EMC Clarion SAN with secure meshed network.

The ability to scale CPU memory and disk storage in low time, guaranteed 24/7 low latency availability of mission critical applications and the provision of a dedicated team of technical experts to support local growth were said to be key reasons for selecting Macquarie.

Global Red assessed multiple providers, according to the statement.
