APC, a provider of technology and industrial applications, has introduced three new solutions to manage power, cooling, physical space and security in datacentre environments.

APC: new solutions for data centres
InfraStruXure Central, Capacity Manager and Change Manager belong to APC’s Datacentre Physical Infrastructure Management suite of applications.

According to Gordon Makryllos, country general manager A/NZ, growing trends toward higher power densities, driven by technology such as virtualisation, demands the need for data centre operators to move between monitor, design and operate activities.

“Maximising data centre energy efficiency while providing high availability requires measuring and monitoring the physical infrastructure to as granular a level as possible,” said Makryllos.

“APC’s datacentre management suite utilises real-time data and a common database, which means that data centre decisions can be made based on facts and not merely based on nameplate data typically used by stand-alone inventory management tools.”

Michelle Bailey, research vice president for IDC’s Datacentre Trends program claims power and cooling is the number one issue for datacentre managers as they face ‘huge challenges in predicting the impact from the ever growing number of installed systems in their new and ageing datacentres’.

“A comprehensive product, such as APC’s datacentre management suite allows operators to visualise, predict and constantly evaluate their priorities for running a high density data centre at the facility or remotely,” she said.
