The independent statutory authority is responsible for safety regulation of civil air operations in Australia and the operation of Australian aircraft overseas. As part of the implementation it's planning to update its technology capabilities and consolidate aviation records, in order to make systems more efficient for its users.
CASA will deploy Siebel Systems' eGovernment applications at its head office in Canberra and 13 offices throughout Australia. In addition, CASA announced it has chosen Business Objects' new Enterprise 6.0 business intelligence platform to integrate with Siebel's CRM suite and provide data reporting and Web-access abilities for users.
The Siebel system will replace CASA's previous aircraft licensing registration and publication system, and be integrated with existing CASA applications including the Medical Records System and Cyberexams, an online pilot exams application. A CASA spokesperson said the previous system "relied on legacy solutions that lack the integration and capabilities of today's technology market".
“We will be able to increase our ability to extract important information and produce complex reports from our core databases much more quickly and effectively than before,” the spokesperson said. “For us, this technology will play a key role in enabling us to become continually more efficient at what we do.”
