HP offers on-demand datacentre tools

HP is to start offering components of its systems management portfolio as an on-demand service from next month.

Its new HP Software-as-a-Service (HP SaaS) offering will provide customers with tools to track changes in the IT infrastructure and evaluate the impact on operations. HP SaaS will updated versions of its Business Availability Center and Release Control tools.

HP Release Control Platform 4.0, formerly known as HP Change Control Management improves users' visibility into how changes in IT infrastructure will impact business decisions.

“The key benefit of this is that people can do more than just view end user information, they can see how change will impact the business user,” HP pre sales director, Richard Bowen.

Its updated Business Availability Center tool helps users isolate problems in the datacentre, improving system administrators' ability to drill into operations data.

HP believes that datacentre operations are becoming increasing complex as more firms adopt service-oriented architecture and virtualisation. The ability to resolve datacentre issues speedily, before business operations are impaired, will demand more sophisticated tools.

The vendor unveiled a range of new releases at its Software Universe conference in Las Vegas last week, including new versions of its Client Automation Center, Storage Essentials and Service Automation Reporter.

HP has been updating its systems management portfolio, integrating technology it obtained through acquisitions of Opsware, Mercury Interactive and Bristol Technology.
