IT Wholesale boss quits

Cellnet's chief operating officer Santo Pappalardo has quit, “due to differences with the board and senior management” of the ASX-listed mobile phone distributor. Pappalardo – who sold his IT distribution business IT Wholesale to Cellnet in October 2000 – is currently negotiating his terms of exit with Cellnet.

It has been reported that Pappalardo had his differences with new Cellnet managing director Steve Harrison. When contacted by iTnews, Pappalardo declined to comment on his departure and was waiting for advice on “what I can and can't say.”

“I need to protect my interests,” he said. At press time, Cellnet and Pappalardo were negotiating his terms of exit, a statement said.

IT Wholesale is one of Australia's largest IBM product distributors and has been performing strongly. For the six months to December 31, 2002, IT Wholesale's sales grew 27 percent to $58.7 million while Cellnet's telecommunications division dropped 32 percent to $97 million over the same period.
