Austrade shows off nine Oz tech companies to Microsoft HQ

Nine Australian technology companies spent this week showcasing their financial services expertise in the US as part of an Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) initiative.

BizTools, Bluedoor Technologies, iComply, Intelledox, Linx Software, Modoras, Mediahouse Technology, MYOB and Stargate Technologies all travelled to Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond Seattle to meet with industry experts, venture capitalists and key Microsoft representatives.

The inaugural trade mission, which ran from June 4 to 6, sought to give each of the participating companies insights into Microsoft’s global financial services industry (FSI) strategy as well as a chance to showcase their capabilities and innovative technology.

Austrade’s National Industry Manager for ICT, Peter Harrison, said the trade mission was held to recognise the Australian ICT industry’s global competitiveness.

“This first-ever delegation of Australian financial services technology solutions providers to Microsoft’s headquarters affords networking opportunities for Australian firms to align with and gain exposure to US technology companies,” Harrison said.

“This type of effort will sow the seeds for similar opportunities in other technologies that will afford a broader range of Australian businesses, across a myriad of sectors, unique access and opportunities to work with Microsoft and its partners.”

Following this mission, several participants will also proceed to New York to participate in Austrade’s Financial Services mission being held from 10 -13 June.

Austrade has a network devoted to the US market providing extensive support for Australian exporters with representation in 18 US cities, eight specialist industry teams, including a dedicated technology team, and a network of US Export Advisers around Australia.
