Intel backs Q4 forecast

 
Intel has stood by its fourth quarter forecast, predicting revenue of between US$6.5billion and US$6.9 billion for the period.

In the same period a year ago, Intel logged revenue of US$6.98 billion. The third quarter 2002 yielded US$6.5 billion in revenue.

In its filing with the US Securities and Exchange commission, the company said it expects the telecommunications industry to remain weak.

In the fourth quarter Intel is expecting a gross margin of around 49 percent – a figure unchanged from the third quarter. It expects to lower capital expenditure for 2002 to US$4.7 billion.

Analysts polled by First Call are expecting Intel to post a profit of 12 cents per share on revenue of US$6.7 billion for the fourth quarter.
