Welcome to P1, NextDC's completed Perth data centre in Malaga, due to be officially launched at a ceremony with 200 invited guests on Monday.
The completed P1 facility now means NextDC can boast an Australia-wide network of enterprise-class data centres. (NextDC has also constructed facilities in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne).
NextDC hopes to lease floorspace within the facility on the basis of it being carrier and vendor neutral. Malaga was also chosen as the location for Fujitsu's latest Perth data centre.
The completed facility offers an IT load of 5.5 megawatts across 3,000 square metres of technical space.
NextDC is one of 11 Australian data centres designed to a Tier III certification by the Uptime Institute, eight of which have been accessed while in operation. NextDC P1 is the only WA data centre in the latter category - representatives from The Uptime Institute flew in to Perth to put the data centre through its paces in recent weeks.
P1 customers can lease from two floors of available office space, as well as meeting rooms, staging rooms for testing equipment installations, and a chill-out room (kitchen, lounge, TV and free Wi-Fi).
