The iPad features passcode security - This is a four-digit PIN code that’s required every time the iPad is powered on. There’s an optional setting, that we’d strongly recommend, that will erase the content of the iPad in the event of 10 unsuccessful passcode attempts. But is it enough protection for enterprise use?

Connecting the iPad via VPN. We tested the iPad by connecting to a Cisco VPN with SecurID authentication. Our biggest gripe was the configuration had to be entered manually as Apple doesn’t support the standard PCF file system. It also means that changes to the VPN will require some manual changes to the iPad.

Using LogMeIn Ignition for remote acess. The software has been redesigned for the iPad within the same application package as the iPhone version. That means you only need to buy the application once. Nice.

Using Pages on the iPad. It ain't Word, but it ain't bad either. Just a shame you can't print natively from the iPad. And do you seriously want to type out documents on that touchscreen? No thanks.

Evernote - its a must-have business app for the iPad.
