EDITOR'S NOTE
|
Good morning,
Welcome to Hadoop week! This week we've set about providing you the ultimate starter's guide to Big Data.
It starts today with a feature story introducing you to Hadoop - What is it? Why is it different? Who is using it?
Later in the week we get into some deep-dive technical sessions for those keen to try out this technology for the first time. We are hosting two interactive webinars for some hands-on experience with Hadoop:
Wednesday October 9, 3pm: DIY Hadoop: Build your first Hadoop instance
Wednesday October 16, 12pm: Using Big Data to zero in on security threats
For those of you wishing to attend the 'DIY Hadoop' webinar this Wednesday, we thoroughly recommend you register in advance and we'll provide you a link to our 'Hadoop test-bed', some step-by-step instructions on how to download and install your Hadoop instance in advance of the webinar. There is around 500MB of software to download so we'd prefer you did it prior to the call!

Happy Hadoop building!
