EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

State and federal police have continued a push to extend the amount of time telcos would be required to hold communications metadata under the Federal Government's data retention proposal. They have called for a five-year or even 'indefinite' scheme.

And veteran NSW CIO Dr Vladas Leonas has called on government departments to take a more practical view of IT projects, in order to keep pace with constant change in bureaucracy.
