EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

Today we present the first part of iTnews' special investigation into the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by some of Australia's top mining companies. Stay tuned tomorrow for the next installment.

Also, after years of planning, the international Square Kilometre Array telescope initiative has been split between competing bidders Australia and South Africa. Both countries, along with New Zealand, will host portions of the $2 billion array, construction of which will begin by 2016.
