EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

Today the chief executive of Amadeus, a developer of software used in just about every airline and travel company in the world, tells iTnews that the best decision the company ever made was to resist offers from the likes of IBM and EDS to outsource its IT. Liz Tay explains why in today's lead story.

We also have some interesting pieces from the UK and Hong Kong about IT gone wrong - with the Royal Bank of Scotland fined for poor IT governance and the chief executive of a Hong Kong smartcard firm forced to resign after sharing customer data with third parties.
