Sony has pulled three of its retro PSOne games from the PlayStation Network (PSN), its online networking platform for the PlayStation 3, due to severe technical issues.

Sony pulls three retro games from PSN
Adventure games MediEvil, Spyro 2 and Crash Bandicoot 2 have been taken offline following investigations after complaints from players.

In a Sony forum thread discussing the issue, a Sony community team coordinator with the username Lestrade wrote that the problems are "highly technical and require some time to work through."

"You will be aware from the description of the product on PlayStation Store that some variation in functionality from the original PSOne version is to be anticipated ... However there appear to be more significant technical issues."

Crash Bandicoot's issues seem to be purely related to problems with the sound, but the other two titles suffer from crashes at certain points in the game.

Sony has now emailed all customers who bought Spyro 2 and MediEvil to say that they will have their online accounts refunded within the next seven days and the game will be removed from their download list once the refund has been processed.

Although Crash Bandicoot 2 is still not available from the PSN store, customers who bought it have not been contacted regarding a refund.

"For Crash Bandicoot 2 the situation is more clear as its removal was purely precautionary. We are optimistic that the title will be back in the store shortly," wrote Lestrade.
