Australian firm Supply Chain Consulting has acquired global supply chain vendor Viewlocity for a bigger presence in United States, Europe and North Asia, for an undisclosed sum.

The agreement, signed in Sydney on 8 December takes effect immediately.

Tony Carr, chief executive of Supply Chain Consulting said the acquisition of Viewlocity presented an opportunity to acquire a software business that was complementary in nature, particularly in the areas of manufacturing, automotive, retail and logistics.

It also offered Supply Chain Consulting an established presence in three major new markets – the US, Europe and North Asia, he said.

Supply Chain Consulting will operate Viewlocity as a separate business unit and will continue to develop, market and support all of its current products.

Fadi Geha, former vice president of Asia Pacific Operations at Viewlocity, will assume the role of business unit director of the global Viewlocity business.

Supply Chain Consulting first entered the market in 1998 and has recently become a SAP Gold level partner.
