BigAir announces plans for 1Gbit wireless service
BigAir has announced plans to roll out over the coming year, wireless broadband services offering symmetric speeds up to 1Gbit per second.

According to the ASX listed service provider, the service will be 50 times faster than the maximum download speed, and 1000 times
faster than the standard upload speed, offered on current ADSL2+ services.

The new service will enable high-end enterprise applications such as disaster recovery and ‘super-fast’ Internet applications, BigAir CEO Jason Ashton said.

"Following recent network capacity expansion, we are already offering
speeds up to 100Mbps across our Sydney network - this is already many
times faster than the maximum download rates achievable on ADSL2+, and it's a full 100 times faster for sending data," Ashton said in an ASX statement.

The company is also planning to build an additional 10 wireless base stations within the next year to meet demand for symmetric business-grade broadband services.

BigAir has also grown out its sales since launching a wholesale partner channel in September. Currently 10 companies have signed on with an additional 25 ready reported to be close to signing.

The company reported revenues of $9.5 million as at October, a significant increase over the previous full year result of $6.9 million.
