Gotalk release VoIP 'tech toy'
Suggesting that IP telephony has become a commodity technology, Australian owned telecommunications company, Gotalk has released a $49.95 VoIP phone, just in time for Christmas.

The ‘Phone Stick’ consists of a USB memory stick with integrated VoIP circuits and software, which loads a softphone when inserted into a PC with Internet connectivity.

The phone is compatible with Gotalk postpaid plans beginning at $9.95.

The telco is billing the device, which can also be used as a 128MB external drive, as the "world’s smallest VoIP phone.”

“We believe [the Phone Stick] will be a ‘must have’ tech toy this Christmas,” Gotalk CEO Steve Picton claimed.

Gotalk will market the Phone Stick via major retailers and its 25,000 strong retailer and 7,000 phone card reseller distribution network.
