Yahoo!7’s launches local online video site
Yahoo!7 has launched Yahoo!7 Video, an online video site that allows users to search for videos from around the Web and upload user-generated content to share with others.

The new site - www.yahoo7.com.au/video - is a combination of Yahoo7’s existing streams of music, news, sports, movies and television videos and with content sourced from across the Web and directly from publishers.

Ian Smith, chief executive officer of Yahoo!7, said the service allowed users to access viedos relevant to them.

“The new site offers a variety of features which enable users to search and subscribe to videos which interest them most. This includes, ‘Featured’,
‘Popular’, ‘Category’ and ‘Tag’, he said.

“Users can subscribe to and watch channels, groups of videos related by source or topic, to stay up-to-date on content created by their favourite publishers. They can also access the largest database of videos on the Web through Yahoo!7 Search.”

Also, Yahoo!7 Video enables users and video enthusiasts to participate in Yahoo!7’s social community by rating, reviewing and sharing videos. Users can save videos to a ‘My Favourites’ section and tag them, making retrieval easier.

Users can share content via Yahoo!7 Mail and Yahoo!7 Messenger, and also share uploaded videos by embedding a version of the Yahoo!7 Video player featuring the video of their choice into their website or blog, said Smith.
