Victoria offers $6m for fast web proposals

Industry bodies, local governments, community organisations, business groups and state government departments can lodge expressions of interest until Friday 4 November.

“Broadband has the potential to transform the way Victorians do business. It allows businesses to develop innovative solutions, improve productivity, and ultimately provide a better service to customers,” said Victoria’s Minister for Technology, Gordon Rich-Phillips in a statement.

Funds ranging between $50,000 and $1 million are available for projects of one-to-two years.

Applicants are expected to come with their own cash or in-kind resources that will need to match the program’s funds on a one to one basis, according to its program guidelines [pdf].

As the name of the program sugests, proposals must be for areas that have ADSL, Fibre to the Home, Hybrid fibre-coaxial, NBN infrastructure and 3G networks.

Successful applicants are to be revealed next year.
