Managed services integrator Nexon Asia-Pacific has bought cabling and infrastructure provider Heyday Group's telephony business for an undisclosed sum.

Managed services integrator Nexon Asia-Pacific has bought cabling and infrastructure provider Heyday Group's telephony business for an undisclosed sum.

Charles Assaf, managing director at Nexon, said Nexon had bought Heyday's telephony business, comprising some 20 staff in Brisbane and Sydney, its business customers, support and maintenance contracts.

Assaf would not disclose the amount paid for the purchase. However, Heyday Group was "an $150 million company" and its telephony business was about five percent of that total, he added.

Heyday's telephony business would give Nexon a technical and geographic springboard to boost sales and capability across Queensland, Assaf said.

"This was perfect for us because it had the right people and will be a launching pad for growth of the business in Brisbane and Queensland," he said.

"It also makes us one  of the largest Alcatel Premium Partners in Australia and I think the largest in Brisbane."

Nexon already had an office in Brisbane and customers that had regional services and offices in Brisbane, but the Heyday buy would give Nexon a better platform for growth, Assaf said.

"This also takes us to the next level of providing services to the larger end, corporate and government," he said.

Assaf added that Heyday had business with government departments such as Queensland Health and a number of multinational customers, which he could not name.

The integrator had already hired three sales, business development-oriented staff for the Brisbane office to balance the technical skills added by the Heyday purchase. Heyday's Sydney-based staff would boost Nexon's technical ability in NSW, he said.

David Hammond, managing director at Heyday Group, said Nexon was acquiring its non-core PBX business.

"[Nexon's] reputation for providing managed communication solutions means it can offer added value to our customers," Hammond said.
