Brisbane-based Time & Access Systems has signed a distribution deal with US-based human resources systems provider Time America.

Brisbane-based Time & Access Systems has signed a distribution deal with US-based human resources systems provider Time America.

Time & Access Systems has sold and serviced Time America’s software and hardware for three years but the new deal will let the reseller source goods directly from the vendor.

Harry Simpson, managing director at Time & Access Systems, said the reseller would mainly target Australia’s eastern seaboard but could also sell into New Zealand and south-east Asia as a result of the deal.

The deal was not exclusive but Time & Access Systems hoped they could eventually make it so, Simpson said.

“The next level for us will be exclusivity across south-east Asia,” he said. “Although, obviously, it’s early days.”

Australian products that tackled HR needs such as workforce scheduling, job costing, labour distribution, attendance recording, benefits management and payroll tended not to be all-encompassing, Simpson said.

“They’re fairly limited in what they offer from a support and development perspective,” he added. “If you’ve got a multinational behind you, you have got a much better level of confidence.”

Time America was “number two or three” in the market, after leading player Kronos. However, Kronos had failed to produce suitable products for small to mid-size companies, Simpson said.

“Kronos is successful with the likes of Coles Myer,” he said. “But they do target the high end and are priced accordingly.”

Time America provided functionality at a more affordable level for smaller companies. Globally, Time America boasted about 400 customers, Simpson said.

He said Time & Access Systems started in 2001, specifically to sell Time America product. It had two staff in Sydney, two in Melbourne and eight in Brisbane and hoped to employ more this year, Simpson said.
