Internode introduces naked, unlimited ADSL2+

Internode has introduced a $319 naked, unlimited ADSL2+ plan in an overhaul of its broadband offerings for business customers.

With peak speeds of 24 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream, the ISP's new Extreme Unlimited plan is significantly faster than its previous 1500/256 kbps Standard Unlimited offering.

Available from noon today, the new, faster unlimited service comes with no excess charges and no shaping at all times. It may also be delivered through a phone line for $309 per month or $299 with a NodeLine VoIP service.

All Business ADSL Standard plans running at 1.5 Mbps or slower have been "grandfathered", meaning that they will no longer be offered for sale - but existing contracts would be honoured.

Accordingly, Internode's Business plans are now arranged in three tiers instead of four: Business-Extreme, Business-NakedExtreme, and Business-Fast.

The ISP also has reduced the entry-level cost for Business ADSL2+ customers, with the introduction of a $69 service, with a 10 Gb download quota. The previous entry-level plan cost $99 for 30 Gb - these monthly prices were reduced by $10 when bundled with NodeLine.

On the other end of the usage spectrum, Internode has introduced 240 Gb plans that cost between $219 and $319, depending on the tier of service and whether or not it is bundled with NodeLine. Internode has also introduced a maximum excess charge of $299 per month across the range.

Internode product manager Jim Kellett said the ISP had decided to overhaul its business offerings as they had been overlooked in recent plan upgrades.

"Business ADSL plans haven't received as much attention in recent plan upgrades, so we decided it was time for an extreme makeover," he said.

"Maximum price caps and unlimited plans are a couple of things we've planned to introduce for some time, so we've taken this opportunity to do just that."

Compared to Internode's residential offerings, the Business ADSL plans include features such as priority technical support, static IP addresses, optional subnets, download-only quotas and half-cent per megabyte excess charges.

Existing Internode customers have the option to upgrade to the new plans online, at no charge.
