Google's shares nearly reached US$200 last Friday before dropping below the opening price.
Shares of the search giant were just five cents shy of the US$200 mark in morning trading on the Nasdaq. As of late afternoon, the share price had dropped 1.4 percent, or US$2.66, below the opening price to US$190.64.
Google's slip followed the overall trend in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq Composite Index, which dipped 6.10, or 0.3 percent, to 1969.60. Nevertheless, Google's shares are still trading at substantially more than double the US$85 price tag set at its August initial public offering.
