Former Telstra consumer executive hangs around to show replacement the ropes.

Telstra consumer group managing director David Moffatt will leave the telco at the end of the month.

Replacement found for Moffatt

Chief executive officer David Thodey confirmed today that Moffatt, 49, tendered his resignation last month. Moffatt said at the time that he would stay around until a replacement was found.

"With the mass-market transformation ... now is the right time for a new generation of leaders to be given the opportunity to take the business into its next phase of growth," Moffatt said at the time.

Moffatt has been with the company since 2001, initially as its chief financial officer until his appointment in the consumer role two years later. He is a Foxtel board member.

Former Telstra consumer division executive Glenice Maclellan, who joined Telstra three years ago, replaced Moffatt effective immediately.

Peter Jamieson will temporarily cover Ms Mclellan's former duties and his own as executive director of business performance.

Four Telstra board members have left since former chief executive officer Sol Trujillo and former chairman Donald McGauchie left in May, AAP reported.

In February, ZDNet's Renai LeMay anointed Moffatt as the man to replace Trujillo: "There is no single candidate right now better suited to succeed Sol Trujillo as Telstra chief executive than the telco's current consumer marketing and channels chief David Moffatt," Le May wrote.

Last week, Thodey attended his first AGM since Telstra appointed him to the position in May.
