KAZ Group has bought Canberra service provider Iocore Asia/Pacific for an undisclosed sum.

KAZ Group has bought Canberra service provider Iocore Asia/Pacific for an undisclosed sum.

Iocore specialises in supplying application development services to Federal Government.

Andrew Richardson, MD at KAZ Technology Services, said the purchase would give KAZ extra mainframe and business intelligence expertise for its own Federal Government deals.

“Acquiring Iocore's expertise broadens the range of projects we can undertake,” he said.

Richardson said that KAZ had worked with Iocore on various projects. The ACT service provider would complement KAZ's capabilities.

Iocore would be integrated into KAZ's Canberra operations and boost KAZ's 270 staff in that state by 100, he said.

In other news, KAZ announced the appointment of new directors to its board, following its acquisition by Telstra.

David Thodey, business and government group MD at Telstra, would chair KAZ, the company said in a statement.

Peter Kazacos would remain on the board as KAZ's CEO. KAZ commercial director Michael O'Sullivan would also sit on the board, KAZ said.

Ted Pretty, technology innovations and products group MD at Telstra, would take a seat as would Mike Foster, business and government services solutions MD at Telstra, KAZ said.

Telstra would also contribute business and government group financial controller David Kirton, company secretary Douglas Gration and business and finance services director Geoff Nicholson to the board of KAZ, the company said.

Mike Foster had also been appointed to the board of KAZ Group subsidiary, Australian Administration Services, KAZ said.
