Telstra wins $4.5m Hamilton Island deal

Telstra has won a three-year, $4.5 million contract to provide business mobile, data and voice services to Hamilton Island Enterprises.

The telco will also supply mts managed voice solutions to provide a single point of contact for the end-to-end management and support of the tourism operator's voice communications and infrastructure.

It connected Hamilton Island with the operator's Sydney office and Robert Oatley Vineyard in Mudgee.

Hamilton Island chief executive officer Glenn Bourke said that due to its geographical location "historically we have had problems with network reach, bandwidth and coverage".

"Remote locations such as Hamilton Island are often susceptible to network failures, which ultimately impact on productivity for local businesses," said Telstra Country Wide's executive director for the northern region, Bill Dunn.

"The reliability of Telstra's networks will help ensure service continuity is maintained, particularly during the busy summer months when there is an influx of visitors to the island."
