iiNet trial continues; HP likes to touch; Windows gets patched and replaced.

The Weekly Crunch: October 16, 2009

In this weeks show:

  • The battle between iiNet and the film industry continued this week with lots of techno babble. The film industry's solicitor came under sustained pressure from ISP iiNet's senior counsel to admit the number of infringements recorded by AFACT were inflated by a "technical issue".
  • HP, meanwhile wants you to get all touchy feely with your consumer tech. The company launched a heap of printers, notebooks, laptops and even a home media server.
  • Microsoft is having a very busy month. This week it released its biggest patch Tuesday ever and next week the company will finally launch Windows 7.
  • Tim Berners-Lee apologised to the world for using slashes // in internet URLs. He said the "//" symbols are unnecessary and the internet would have survived just fine without them.
