Health software developer IBA Health has revealed plans to deploy “follow-me” unified communications to its 4,200 staff worldwide after outsourcing its IP network to Verizon Business.

The fully-managed IP network will connect IBA Health's offices and more than 4,200 employees in 22 locations across Australasia, the Middle East, South Africa, India, South East Asia, and Europe.

IBA said it plans to deploy unified communications solutions, starting with IP telephony, "but with the eventual aim of enabling ‘follow-me' presence-based IP-communications".

Follow-me presence will enable communications to be routed seamlessly to the most convenient method indicated by the user's presence information. For example, to a fixed or mobile device, depending on where the user is.

IP-enabled audio and video conferencing will also be deployed in all the company's offices.

The company hopes its application developers, for example - based in Bangalore, Chennai and the United Kingdom - will benefit from the systems by being able to work together in a secure virtual production environment.

IBA also announced plans to centralise its human resources, finance and customer-resource management applications.

The Verizon network will act as a secure global network over which these applications can be delivered to employees, IBA said.

IBA said it hoped to achieve "efficiencies" in its IT budget of around 25 per cent.

IBA Health develops software that is designed to automate patient and business processes and support workflows in hospitals, clinics, aged and community care facilities. It is headquartered in Australia.
