Bottle claims upper hand in auDA case

The case, which was due to progress to a full hearing in the Victoria Supreme Court today, has left the registrar confident that it's .AU domain name business is safe, a source at the company has said.

"We believe we have not been in breach of our agreement with auDA and remain confident this can be proven through the courts," the source said.

"It's so far so good in terms of our battle against auDA to remain accredited.

"The outcome today was favourable and Bottle Domains customers can remain confident that their .AU domain names are safe."

The result has since been independently confirmed by other industry sources familiar with the matter.

auDA chief Chris Disspain could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.

But today's outcome is another blow to auDA, which was forced to reverse the termination of Bottle Domains' .AU accreditation after being served a temporary injunction by the Supreme Court.

It then lost its appeal against the injunction being granted.

The case resumes again in two months time on June 22.
