Charles Sturt University is deploying a unified communications system connecting its campuses, residential accommodation sites and dentistry school.

CSU rolls out unified communications statewide
The system replaces the university’s ‘ageing’ PABX infrastructure.

The chosen UC suite is Interactive Intelligence’s Customer Interaction Center (CIC) – selected from 12 options, according to the university. It will also use Polycom IP handsets.

The rollout to the University’s student residential accommodation will include current construction sites where 600 student accommodation units are being built in Wagga Wagga, Thurgoona and Bathurst.

Implementation has already commenced with trial and design work due to be completed by the end of the year.

Early adopters as well as those business units which require distributed call queuing and management will cut over to the new system in the first part of 2009.

CSU has a network of campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga, with specialist campuses in Canberra, Goulburn, Manly and Parramatta.

It delivers nearly 500 courses to around 35,000 on campus and distance education students.
