Networking vendor 3Com has restructured its ANZA operations, making the position of Australia/New Zealand country manager redundant in the process.

Mike Clarke - who had held the position - was 'leaving the company to pursue new career goals', according to a statement.

Under the new structure, the vendor's operations will be split into two teams - channel/education sales and enterprise sales teams.

Stanimira Koleva, who has been appointed as president for Asia South at 3Com, told CRN that the company had some tasks to achieve breaking into more large enterprise customers in Australia, which required 'clear focus and accountability'.

She said that a channel sales director and an enterprise sales director would now hold joint responsibility for its Australian operations. These directors report to Koleva, who is based in Singapore.

Koleva said she expected the enterprise sales team to grow 40 percent of the business over the next six months.

Although she couldn't reveal which channel partners had been selected, Koleva said that 3Com would probably end up having strategic alliances with two or three large systems integrators. 'We are in discussions with a number of the top 10 systems integrators,' she said.

In a statement, Koleva said that the new channel sales team would focus on its already-established education business, as well as growth of its SME business in the region. The enterprise sales team will look after sales to 'large enterprises and big systems integrators'.
