ASX-listed Sydney software developer MXL has released a Microsoft Great Plains-integrated version of its eMinerva student management application.

MXL said the integration with Great Plains General Ledger was undergoing accreditation testing with Microsoft. The first installation of the updated eMinerva software is scheduled for a Sydney college in July.

“MXL's integrated eMinerva product is now listed on the Microsoft Business Solutions Web site under Education and is available globally for Microsoft Solutions distributors,” the company stated in a release to the ASX.

According to MXL, Microsoft has already tested and approved another new MXL product, TeacherSync, as part of its .NET Connected worldwide program. TeacherSync lets educators use eMinerva functions remotely without an Internet connection. “Several clients, including McDonalds Australia, use TeacherSync for offsite training staff on the road,” the company said.

MXL is also preparing to announce five new contracts, which it hopes will help it achieve profitability by the end of this financial year.

In addition, the company is also working on a project with a university in the Philippines, with “a number” of other opportunities in South-East Asia emerging as a result, MXL said.

MXL produces Web-based software for the international education market. The company exports its software globally via a network of distributors. In Australia, MXL has more than 100 education institutions, including universities and corporate training organisations. Planned software releases would target high schools, the company has said.
