Boost decided to introduce these plans because with the launch of the iPhone and other converged devices, customers had the ability to use their mobiles for online surfing but not the inclination.
“We’re trying to match these plans to the current telco climate environment,” said Michelle Lopez of Boost Mobile.
“A lot of people are still a bit hesitant to go online with their mobiles, because afraid of bill shock. We thought providing familiar cap plans that include a large amount of data might make it easier for customers to become more mobile online.”
A $30 payout on this plan provides customers with $150 of talk and text, plus 50MB, which allows customers to view up to 2,500 WAP websites. The $70 plan provides 300MB of online data.
As both business and consumer customers increasingly feel the need to be more mobile, Boost hopes to release even more plans that will accommodate the changing telecommunications climate.
“We’ve had mobile internet sites for many years and we can see how people’s confidence is growing online,” said Lopez.
“This whole side of mobile telecommunications is growing, and we want to offer more products out there to make easier for people to adapt.”
