iiNet is celebrating its decision to offer Naked DSL last year, with figures indicating over 20,000 households across Australia have taken up the service so far.

The news follows the annoucement last month of a new partnership program designed to attract reseller partners for its SMB products.

The ISP has built its own high speed ADSL2+ network that serves around 4 million households across Australia.

Naked ADSL2+ offerings from various ISPs are finding favour in Australia as Naked services do not require a dial-tone enabled copper phone line. This means customers can avoid paying for traditional line rental purely to support an Internet connection.

Mark White, Chief Operating Officer at iiNet, said that saving money by avoiding line subscription fees will help Australian consumers struggling with rising petrol and grocery prices.

“By switching to Naked DSL, Australian families can make a difference to the bottom line of their household budget,” he said.

iiNet's Naked DSL plans include a free iiTalk service which allows customers to make and receive free local and national calls and competitive mobile and international calls through their Internet connection.

“Significant savings on essential services, such as phone and Internet, are being welcomed by Australian families, who are facing increasingly higher prices for everyday items like fuel and groceries. Australian families are hungry to find savings for their household budgets and are literally voting with their keyboards.”

The company is also expanding its quota limits for several of its Naked and Broadband2+ plans.
