EDITOR'S NOTE

Good morning,

Australia's Information Commissioner, John McMillan, will today unveil eight new rules for Federal agencies to adhere to when considering the publication of government data.

But the rules are non-binding and there are few sanctions for non-compliance.

Also today, Redmond in damage control after the Windows 8 launch timeframe was revealed by chief Steve Ballmer at a Tokyo conference.
