Toshiba's Storage Device Division has introduced what it claims is the first portable 200GB 2.5in drive.
The aluminium-clad portable external hard drive is capable of storing up to 57,000 digital photos, 52,000 MP3 music files, 88 DVD videos or 23 high-definition videos.
In addition to the top-of-the-range 200GB device, Toshiba will also offer 160GB, 120GB and 100GB capacities.
"Each year, consumers are generating thousands of digital content files that represent cherished memories, beloved entertainment content and important family and business information," said Maciek Brzeski, vice president of marketing at Toshiba SDD.
"But the notion of preserving this information with a backup solution is just beginning to take hold."
The 200GB drive has a US price of $229.99.
